Lutherhill Weekend August 22 & 23

Lutherhill-LogoWe invite you all to a very special event here at MLLC.  On the weekend of August 22-23 we will welcome Matt Kindsvatter, the executive director of Lutherhill Ministries.  He is familiar to many people in MLLC.  We know him from his previous visits to MLLC, and because many of our youth have attended summer camp at Lutherhill over the years.

Matt will be our preacher at both of our weekend services.  Invite your family and friends for these special times together.  Let’s give Matt and the Lutherhill staff members a great MLLC Carmine Welcome!

Saturday, August 22 at 6 p.m. – Matt will preach at a typical MLLC Saturday evening service.

Sunday, August 23 – three special events in one day

8:30 a.m. – children and youth invited to arrive early to prepare a skit for use in worship.  These young people will meet with Lutherhill staff in the new Mission & Ministry building to prepare a brief skit which will be presented in the 9:00 a.m. worship service.  There is no reservation needed, simply arrive at 8:30 and join in the fun.

9:00 a.m. – worship in the Sanctuary.  Matt and some Lutherhill staff members will lead all of our music this day.  They will teach us and lead us in singing camp style songs.  Matt will also preach at this service.  Our youth will present the skit which they have prepared.  This skit will take the place of the children’s sermon for this day.

10:15 a.m. – Sunday School – Lutherhill staff will lead a children’s Sunday School lesson in the Mission & Ministry building.  We have enjoyed their leadership in the past as they have come to do this over the years.

This summer we had a large group of MLLC youth attend camp at Lutherhill.  This special weekend is a way to celebrate the great summer experience we had at Lutherhill.

Here is a photo of Matt Kindsvatter and Pastor David Tinker after a recent meeting to plan for this special Sunday.

Martin Luther Lutheran School New Year

We are getting close to beginning the new school year for our Education Ministry of the Martin Luther Lutheran School.  Together we are sharing God’s love, announcing the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and serving families of young children.  This ministry continues to be a blessing to the many children and their families who receive this service.

We especially encourage you to tell others about the Martin Luther Lutheran School.  Here is a link to the main page about our school on this web site:

Palms and Quilts for the Glory of God

Palm Sunday 2015 Pastor Procession

As always we celebrated a joyful Palm Sunday at MLLC.  It was great to have a wonderful crowd for our Saturday evening and Sunday morning worship services.  Together we remembered the work of Jesus Christ as he entered Jerusalem on a donkey.  This entry began the week of dramatic events which provided for the salvation from the final power of sin, death and evil for all who would believe in him.

Our young people were joyful leaders in the Palm Procession.  The group circled the sanctuary while we sang the traditional “All Glory, Laud and Honor”.  The Palms were then placed before the altar to remember that the people covered the road with palms over which Jesus rode the donkey.

Some of the children also gathered up front for the Children’s Time.  As part of this time the youth learned about the quilts and where these are sent around the world.

Later during worship we dedicated the quilts and kits for Lutheran World Relief.

Our numbers are not quite final, but here is a general tally:

22 Quilts

2 Fabric Kits

70 School Kits

7 Baby Care Kits

and we are in the process of completing a great number of Personal Care Kits

Here are how the quilts were displayed.  Note the palms before the altar.

There is a wonderful article on the Lutheran World Relief web page about the Mission Quilts.  You are encouraged to click over to this page to read more about this wonderful ministry.

The quilts displayed in the sanctuary on Palm Sunday were the ones for Lutheran World Relief.  Many more are prepared and sent to two other ministries.  Several are made for Camp for All in Burton.  A set are also made for Krause Children’s Center in Katy.

Daycare Christmas Program

MLLS Christmas 2014 group

The students of our Daycare Ministry – Martin Luther Lutheran School (MLLS) – presented their annual program recently.  On Friday evening, December 5, the older students in this ministry presented songs and poetry which proclaimed the good news that Jesus Christ is born.  Parents, grandparents, siblings, relatives and friends of students, staff and school board members gathered to enjoy this special presentation.

The students practiced for weeks to get ready.  They did a great job, as always.

Celebrating the New School Year

IMG_4709

The Early Childhood Education ministry MLLC is the Martin Luther Lutheran School (MLLS).  On Tuesday, September 2, 2014 our new school year began.  With songs and prayer we ushered in the new year.  We gathered in the Fellowship Hall, which is just at the end of the Christian Education/MLLS wing of our building.  Our pastor led the students, teachers and parents in prayer.

All MLLS students and staff, along with some parents, were on hand to pray in and sing in the new school year.

We are always welcoming of new students.  Click this link to find out more.  Or call our school office at: 979-278-3380, and speak to our school director, Kelli Meinholdt.

Here are some photos taken at the special time of prayer and song.
