Parsonage Dedication – May 1

Parsonage front

There is some Big News regarding the parsonage remodeling project.  Work on the house is in the very final stages.  There are some small touch-ups and such to do, along with some final basic furnishings.  Since the work is pretty much done the church council can now set a dedication date.

We invite you to the dedication and house blessing on Sunday, May 1, 2016, after worship.  Worship on that day will be at a special time – 10:15 a.m. – due to it also being Confirmation Sunday.  The dedication and house blessing will take place at about 11:30 a.m.

Following the House Blessing and Dedication the parsonage will be open for you to walk through to view the updates and renovations.

Thank you to all those who have given so much for the renovations and remodeling of the parsonage.  So many have given money, labor, ideas and time to make this possible.

Here are some more photos of the outside of the parsonage.

During May the Tinker family will be moving into the parsonage.  Since their arrival in April 2012 they have been living in temporary housing in the countryside near Carmine.

We have a fantastic Nursery School and Daycare ministry at MLLC.  We continually give thanks to God for his provision of this ministry in our community.  This year we are renewing our Fundraiser and Celebration meal.  We invite you to get your tickets now.  Details below.

The Martin Luther Lutheran School (MLLS) Fundraiser Dinner is on Sunday, February 7, at Carmine Hall, with pick up from 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The deadline for ticket purchase is Sunday, January 31.  Tickets for the to-go-only meal are $10.00 and available in the church office, on Sunday at worship, and from MLLS students. The meal will consist of 6-oz. chicken-fried steak, German potatoes, green beans, and cream gravy.

A sign-up sheet is in the Narthex to provide cookies/cupcakes/other desserts (either packaged separately in zip-lock bags or on plates to be easily picked up), and the MLLS students will make Valentine’s cards to place with each meal.

Donations to MLLS will be accepted for the desserts as you pick up your items.

Harvest Festival & Homecoming – October 18

Harvest Festival Food

We invite you to participate in the 2015 MLLC Harvest Festival and Homecoming.  This wonderful, annual tradition at MLLC provides the community an opportunity to celebrate God’s work among us and our love for one another.

Click this link to see our main page about the Harvest Festival & Homecoming.  There is a great deal of information about this event on that page.  So, please click over there to find out more.

This is the 6th year for this delightful event.  Each year we celebrate our life together under the grace of God.  In addition to the whole Carmine community, we invite all people who have ever been part of MLLC to participate in this special event.

We will make note of Confirmation Classes from years ending in “0” or “5”.  This has been our pattern for most of the history of the Harvest Festival.  Next year, 2016, we will recognize classes from years ending in “1” or “6”.

This will also be a fundraiser for the congregation.

Worship on July 19 – Firemen’s Feast Sunday

IMG_3852The people of Carmine pull together in service to their neighbors throughout the year.  One of the main events of the year in Carmine is the annual Firemen’s Feast.  This fundraising event helps cover the cost of providing a fire department for this community.

There are large numbers of people who give of their time, energy and resources to make this event happen each year.  In order to provide a time of worship on Sunday morning for these faithful servants MLLC brings church to them.

A brief worship service with Holy Communion will be offered this Sunday, July 19, at about 7:30 a.m. at the Carmine VFD fire house. (We will also gather at MLLC for our usual time of worship at 9:00 a.m. this Sunday.)  All people who will be serving at the Firemen’s Feast Sunday morning are especially invited to participate in this time of prayer, Word and Sacrament.  We are expecting 50+ participants this year.  Most of the people at this service are the cooks for the chicken, but the service is not limited to those at the firehouse.  If you are going to be working at the dinner at Carmine Hall, please feel free to attend this 7:30 a.m. service at the Fire Station before you head over to prepare the hall for serving. The photo above is from last year’s service.

Carmine Firemen’s Feast is Coming

IMG_3840

The Annual Carmine Volunteer Fire Department’s Firemen’s Feast is coming soon.  This is a wonderful event which brings our community together to support the men and women who serve us.

Sunday, July 19, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Carmine Hall.

The photo above is from a very special part of the event.  In recent years MLLC has sponsored a brief worship service with Holy Communion early on Sunday morning.  This provides the opportunity for the cooks to pause for prayer, God’s Word, Holy Communion and a time of thanksgiving.  The rest of the day after this is very busy for the cooks and other volunteers.

Jacob Fundraiser Event

Jacob Family

The Community of Carmine pulled together to support MLLC members Lane and Robyn Jacob, and their family, on Saturday, May 9. The event was a fundraiser to support this family in their time of difficulty.  This event was noted previously in this article:  click link.  It is a wonderful thing when people work together and serve one another.

Back in March 2015 their family home burned to the ground.  We are thankful that nobody was hurt.  The family was away at the time to support daughter Taylor at a rodeo event.

Following the fire the Carmine Community pulled together to support this family in their time of need.  Thanks to all who gave of their time, energy, materials and love to support this family.  It was a great way to show our love for our neighbors and to show love for one another in the community of faith.

The people of MLLC worked side by side with community members and friends, as well as various community organizations, to bring about a day of love and support for the Jacob family.

This day of support was one of a number of various ways people worked together to support this family.  As with anybody in such a situation the long term care, support, prayers and friendship which we offer will make a world of difference.
