Packing and Sending of Quilts and Kits

Quilting 8

Martin Luther Lutheran Church has been a very busy place in recent weeks.  In addition to the Lent and Holy Week services, many dedicated volunteers have been assembling and packaging various items for Lutheran World Relief.  Check out these previous articles about this work: 1 2

We had 7 volunteers working on this packing and shipping.  They prepared for shipping: 36 quilts, 18 Baby Care Kits, 16 Personal Care Kits, 28 School Kits, and 3 Fabric Kits.  These will be sent to Lutheran World Relief.  This is in addition to the many other quilts which have been given to Camp for All and the Krause Children’s Center during this past year.

We are very thankful for the opportunity to share the goodness, love and mercy of God with others.  Here are some more photos from our work together.  There were 21 boxes packed.

Palm Sunday Quilts

Palm Sunday is this weekend, April 13, 2014.  On this day we remember Jesus’ Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem.  It is is the beginning of our Holy Week observance.  Click Here for our Holy Week Schedule.  Worship begins on Palm Sunday at 9:00 a.m.  We look forward to seeing you at worship on Palm Sunday, and/or during Holy Week.

On Palm Sunday every year we dedicate the quilts which have been made during the past year.  The photo above shows the abundant production of quilts for this past year.  These are ready for dedication in our sanctuary on Sunday morning.  We will also dedicated baby care kits, school kits and personal health kits at this worship service.  Click on this link to see a previous post about the preparation for this special Sunday.

Blessed to be a Blessing

We have be preparing all year for this.  Each year on Palm Sunday the people of Martin Luther Lutheran Church (MLLC) dedicate the quilts, baby care kits, school kits and health kits which have assembled in the past year.  In recent weeks, and especially in the past few days, there has been a flurry of activity around the facility.  People have been assembling kits and finalizing work on quilts.  A crew of people were bringing the items over the sanctuary.  Some more folks will be placing these items for display in the sanctuary.  On this weekend at worship we will offer thanks and praise to God as these items are dedicated for use and sent to the ends of the earth.  The photo above shows some of our quilts being made ready for presentation on Sunday.  Below is a photo of some of our dedicated volunteers preparing the baby care kits and health kits.

Most of these kits and quilts will be given to Lutheran World Relief.  This faithful organization distributes these items around the world.  We are thankful for our partnership with fellow Lutheran Christians as we work to bring compassion and care to people in need across the world.

We plan to have more information about the dedication service after the weekend.
