We received word that Joyce Schiwart died on Tuesday, April 19.

A brief, graveside funeral will be held in her memory on Thursday, April 21.  This will occur at 11:00 a.m. at the Carmine Cemetery.  All are welcome to attend.  There are no other events scheduled related to this funeral.

Joyce Marie (Hall) Schiwert

March 3, 1941 – April 19, 2022

Joyce Schiwert, age 81, died in the early morning of April 19, 2022.  She was a resident of La Grange, Texas, at the time of her death. She was born March 3, 1941. Joyce was born to Lena Faye Marler Hall and Arvin Cecil Hall.

Joyce married Travis Lee Schiwert on September 17, 1966 at home in Houston, Texas, with the service led by Rev. Milo F. Benningfield. On June 25, 2000, Joyce was baptized at First United Methodist Church of Brenham, Texas, by Rev. Wesley Welborn.  She and Travis joined Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Carmine on September 19, 2005.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Travis Schiwert, as well as various cousins, relatives, and friends.

People in Carmine remember Joyce for various things.  We are thankful for her involvement in the ministries of Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Carmine.  For many years she ran her antique, collectables, and art store called Hill Country Collectibles.  This was located in the green building on the north side of US290 in Carmine.  (More recently this building has been occupied by The Pie Shack and then Buck Up Auctions and Realty.)

All are welcome at the funeral on Thursday, April 21, 11:00 a.m., at the Carmine Cemetery, 171 Carmine Cemetery Rd, Carmine, TX 78932
