Ilo Dean and Joyce Ullrich Obituary

Remembering Ilo Dean and Joyce Ullrich

Ilo Dean and Joyce Ullrich, longtime MLLC members and Carmine residents, died in a tragic vehicle accident on Monday, June 8, on US 290 in Carmine.  The sudden loss of these two is great shock to our church and community.

Funeral Time and Date

The funeral for these two will be on Saturday, June 13, at 10:00 a.m. at MLLC.

The service will also be viewable as a live stream on our Facebook page:  Click Link.  This will be viewable even after the service is over.

COVID19 Actions

Please use your best judgment regarding attending this funeral.  There will be a visitation at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham on Friday until 7 p.m.  Remember that we have the live stream of the service on Facebook – see note above.

We will have limits to how many people can be in the sanctuary for the service.  The overflow area will be the fellowship hall and the parlor.  Attendees will be able to participate by listening to the sound system speakers.

Masks are optional.  Use your best judgment on this matter.

Social distancing is encouraged.  We are providing space for that by limiting the total number of people allowed in the sanctuary for the service.

We will have the bereavement luncheon at the Carmine Hall, which provides more space for people to sit.  This will allow for more social distancing as desired.

Memorial Gifts

Their family has designated MLLC as the recipient of memorial gifts.  We appreciate their kindness.

Here is how you can give:

We will have a staffed table in the Narthex/Lobby of the church before the funeral service.  The staff member will receive your gifts to MLLC.

You can send these by mail to the church, deliver in person, or give through the secure giving page of our web site.  Here is a link to that page:  click link.  On the page where you select where to give and how much, note there is a line for “Memorial Gifts”. Included is a memo box.  Note in that box “Ilo Dean and Joyce Ullrich”, and the gift will be passed along to the right account.

If mailing in a check – The church address:  Martin Luther Lutheran Church; P O BOX 362; Carmine, TX 78932-0362.   Telephone: 979-278-3388

Obituary

Ilo Dean (Deanie) Ullrich was born to Ilo Adam and Agnes (Peters) Ullrich on August 31, 1938 in Carmine, Texas. He was baptized by Pastor Henry Brunotte and confirmed by Pastor A. T. Kluge both at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine.

Joyce Helen (Fischer) Ullrich was born to Willie and Erna (Duisberg) Fischer on July 9, 1940 in Greens Creek, Texas (near Ledbetter). She was baptized by Pastor Paul Eifert and confirmed by Pastor John Herzog both at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Greens Creek.  Her confirmation verse was 2 Corinthians 5:15, “And He died for all, so that those who live might live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died and was raised for them.”

They were high school sweethearts and were united in marriage on June 28, 1959 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church by Pastor August M. Hannemann.

Deanie worked at many jobs throughout his years. He worked in the banking industry, he ran an egg route delivering eggs to Houston, he worked for the county, in the oilfield and in sales. He did most of these jobs while running his own business, The County Trailer Park.

He enjoyed fishing, volunteering in the community, traveling with Joyce to different places and telling jokes to the grandkids. He was kind-hearted and always willing to help others.

After graduating from Round Top Carmine High School, Joyce worked at various jobs including the Giddings State School and Gerland’s eggs. She eventually became a stay at home mom to raise her 3 children and resumed working in sales after they all graduated from high school.

Joyce loved spending time with family and friends and especially taking care of her grandbabies. She loved fishing, cooking, canning pickles, barbequing and watching her grandkids at different sporting events. She and Deanie loved traveling to casinos and going to the “camp house” parties with friends.  She was always willing to help out family and friends by cooking a meal or babysitting grandkids.

Joyce belonged to the Women of the ELCA and was an active member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine.
